The Learn2Live partnership were immensely proud to welcome a new speaker to the team, and were humbled by the courage displayed when Jane shared her heart-wrenching story with sixth form students at South Devon College.
Jane Hofmeister bravely stood in front of an audience of students with the hope of helping them to keep themselves and their friends safe on the roads. Jane described the day her world changed and she learnt that her thirteen year old daughter, Amy had tragically lost her life. Amy was killed on 15 June 2011 by two car drivers racing each other at motorway speeds along a residential road in Taunton, Somerset.
Amy was cycling along a cycle path with an adult on a clear sunny evening when the driver of the lead car lost control on a bend. The car became airborne and struck Amy. She died instantly.
Jane explains how Amy's death was unnecessary and avoidable. "It would not have happened if those two drivers had chosen to drive safely."
Jane showed immense courage to share her story and promote the charity that has been set up in the memory of Amy. Jane would love to hear a comment from any supporters so please visit the 'Think Amy' website and FaceBook page.
